New/old President
For those who I have not met or know me; my name is Paul Morland, I thought I would do a short introduction. I will be taking on the role as President for FY 23-24, when hopefully someone else will take over the role the following year. It's been I believe really important, constructive and positive to have Christine Denton in the role last year and Emily Bull the previous two years before that. I am looking to piggyback on many of their ideas and initiatives they have put in place.
I was previously the President of the BCG from 2014 to 2020 and Treasurer at our previous site at the Ivanhoe Community Food Garden on Tate Street. My company morLandscapes actually provided the design for the Bellfield Community Garden and I have been a resident of Bellfield for 20 years now, so I have very much a vested interest in the garden now and into the future.
Some of the initiatives/task I want to champion in the coming year are-
Redrafting the charter that was put in place in 2014, making it site specific to our new space and addressing where as a garden and group we see ourselves going forward.
Completing off the Defects list, from the build of the new site and deciding on a course, where we move to a solution on areas not covered ie shelter to meeting room roofing connection.
Building on our relationship with our immediate neighbours Urban Farm and Bellfield Community Centre
Bringing Live performance into the space, we had several live music performances at the previous gardens that were special occasions.
Any more and this would hardly be called a short introduction.
Cheers Paul
